How much does a solar system cost in Kenya?
It depends on how much power you use, whether you need batteries, and your roof. We give you a written quote in KES after a free assessment, with no obligation (what drives solar costs). Use the estimator above for a rough system size.
Will solar work during a KPLC blackout?
Yes, if your system includes batteries (a hybrid or off-grid system). A grid-tied system without batteries switches off during outages for safety (see our blackout backup guide). We'll recommend the right type for you.
Can solar run everything in my home?
It can, with the right system size. Heavy loads such as electric showers, cookers and irons need a bigger system, so we often suggest solar water heating or gas for cooking to keep costs sensible.
Do I need a site survey?
Yes. A site survey checks your roof, shading, wiring and actual power use, so the system is sized correctly and the quote is accurate. It's free.
How long does installation take?
Most home systems are installed within a day or two once components are on site. Larger commercial and institutional projects are scheduled with you in advance.
Are your installers licensed?
Solar PV installers in Kenya must be licensed by EPRA (the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority). Our installations are done by licensed technicians. Ask to see our licence at the site survey. Here's how to check any installer.
Can I pay in instalments?
Ask us about deposit and payment options when you receive your quote. We accept M-Pesa and bank transfer.
What maintenance does a solar system need?
Very little: occasional panel cleaning and a periodic health check of batteries and connections. We offer maintenance visits if you'd rather not do it yourself.
